Born in 1969 in Gießen,
Markus Schäfer studied physics in Göttingen, Darmstadt and Tokyo and completed his studies in 1997 with the conferral of his Doctor title. Following this, he gathered professional experience as a corporate consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he primarily worked as a consultant and project manager in the areas of organisational and process optimisation.
In 2000 he moved to TV-Loonland AG, an international company that is active in the cartoon production and rights trading sectors, where he supported international M & A projects for the company as well as being responsible for various special projects. In 2002 he took over management of the newly formed business area Home Entertainment. Within the scope of this role, he was also a member of the board of directors of the British film distribution company, Metrodome Group plc.
In 2004 he moved to MME MOVIEMENT AG, where he was responsible for the areas Corporate Accounting and Reporting, Controlling and Investor Relations as well as strategic projects within the holding company. He held a senior role during the acquisition of the companies balance GmbH, time2talk GmbH and Lunet GmbH, amongst others, and was also involved in the takeover of MME MOVIEMENT AG by the British all3media Group. From July 2012 until August 2014 Dr Schäfer was CFO and until November 2015 CFO/COO of MME MOVIEMENT AG. Since December 2015 he is in the postion of CEO. In May 2007 he became a director of all3media Deutschland GmbH, and in November 2009 he was appointed as managing director of Tower Productions GmbH, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and all3media.
Markus Schäfer is married and has two children.
